BLUE RIDGE REGIONAL AIRPORT
Airport Layout Plan Update
E&A completed an Airport Layout Plan Update for Blue Ridge Airport to assess the overall Airport goals and objectives; evaluate the anticipated future operational demands; document the associated facility requirements and then evaluate the financial and environmental “costs versus benefits” of possible alternative development scenarios. From these analyses, the study process generated a layout plan to incorporate new facility requirements in a practical and logical arrangement around the existing infrastructure so that all airport users can be safely and efficiently accommodated at MTV for the next 20 years.
With E&A’s completion of the Airport Layout Plan Update in December 2018, MTV Authority now has an ALP with justification to extend their main runway by 1,000 feet for a total length of 6,000 feet, as well as add a new 28,000-sy Terminal Apron (described above). Regular communication with the FAA-WADO staff has been vital and successful to ensure the understanding for the need of these airfield improvements. E&A has assisted Airport Manager Jason Davis as he has pursued funding from a local foundation to fast-track the steps needed to pursue the highly anticipated extension.
