Smart Scale Applications
Eden & Associates is assisting Montgomery County with preparation of Smart Scale Applications. The process includes preparation of a sketch, preliminary grading and pre-scoping design to estimate quantities, preparation of a cost estimate, and support the County during bi-weekly meetings with VDOT.
Documents include: project sketch and typical section, identification of necessary right of way, a cost estimate for several phases including PE, RW & Utilities, and Construction. The use of Civil 3D allows for quick longitudinal profiles with typical section to depict areas of fill, road reconstruction, limits of grading, and necessary right of way. Evaluation of impacted utilities allow for the estimate to reflect relocating utilities or adjusting the design to avoid utilities.
Goals: The project expands on previous applications to increase the safety and economic development scores in hopes to gain a higher Smart Scale score.
